I’m Derrick, founder of Political Parody and creator of the Department of Christmas Efficiency.

The Department of Christmas Efficiency was born from two very different but strangely connected places: national politics and my own living room. During the last election a new entity was proposed called the Department of Government Efficiency, I couldn’t help but smile at the irony of the word government and efficiency in the same name. Around that same time, my wife and I were locked in our annual holiday debate: buying gifts just to have more under the tree, overspending, and wondering if we’d lost sight of what Christmas was really about. That collision of big politics and personal life lit a spark—what if there was a Department of Christmas Efficiency?

In a world where holiday traditions like Elf on the Shelf teach kids about behavior, I wanted something that poked fun at the other half of the season—the consumerism, the chaos, and the pressure to overspend. But instead of being heavy-handed, it needed to be playful, lighthearted, and just self-aware enough to make families laugh at themselves while also reflecting on their choices and what they truly want out of their holiday.

That’s how the Efficiency Doll came to life. He’s part holiday companion, part parody bureaucrat—an official from a make-believe agency tasked with cutting waste and keeping Christmas “on budget.” He’s not here to scold but to spark conversations: about quality over quantity, humor over division, and how efficiency might actually be the most festive gift of all.

The Efficiency Doll is the flagship product of my broader brand, Political Parody, LLC. At Political Parody, my mission is to create products that use satire to soften difficult conversations and encourage interesting dialogue. In recent days and months our society has faced tragedies and losses that we will never get back.  The losses we have endured are at the hands of people who cannot use words...only violence.  We’ve forgotten how to laugh at ourselves, and humor is one of the few tools that can cut across today’s divides. The Efficiency Doll may be a parody, but the value behind him is very real: bringing families and friends together through laughter, not ideology.
