Founder's Story
Hi, I’m Fern, the founder and creator of Flora on the Menorah. The idea was born in the most ordinary—and magical—way: through a question from my young son. Our family celebrates both Christmas and Hanukkah, and one year he asked me for an Elf on the Shelf. I loved the joy and mischief of that tradition, but I couldn’t help thinking—what if there were something equally fun, meaningful, and uniquely Hanukkah?
That’s when inspiration struck. I sat down and began writing the story of Flora—a gentle flower who visits children during Hanukkah, sharing the history, joy, and traditions of the holiday. To bring the story to life, I imagined a plush menorah as Flora’s “home base,” where kids could add candles night by night, deepening both play and tradition.
When Flora launched in 2020, I wasn’t sure what to expect—but the response has been incredible. Families have embraced Flora not just as a toy and book, but as a tradition of their own. Parents send me photos of their children lighting up with excitement, playing hide-and-seek with Flora, adding candles to the menorah, and curling up to read the story together. Again and again, I hear how meaningful it is to have something that sparks joy, teaches the story of Hanukkah, and helps children connect with their heritage.
For me, Flora on the Menorah is more than a product—it’s about giving families a new way to celebrate, laugh, learn, and create memories that shine year after year.
